  • Requires some other method of euthanasia to ensure death such as removal of vital organ, exsanguination, or open chest

  • Bubble gas through water until no movement > 10 minutes
• MS 222
  • 300 mg/L bath
  • Keep in solution >10 minutes after all movement stops
• Benzocaine hydrochloride
  • 700 mg/L bath
  • Keep in solution >10 minutes after all movement stops
• 2-phenoxyethanol
  • 0.4 mg/L bath
  • Keep in solution >10 minutes after all movement stops
2. Conditional Acceptable
   • Decapitating and pithing
   • Stunning and decapitating, pithing or freezing
3. Unacceptable
   • Freezing without general anesthesia or stunning
   • Stunning alone
   • Clove oil
