• Sodium pentobarbital
• Snakes - 100 mg/kg intracoelomic
• Crocodilians - 30 mg/kg intracoelomic or 20 mg/kg IM
• Controlled substance
• Halothane/Isoflurane
• In appropriate species
• Requires a hood/ventilation
• Toxic to personnel
  • Pregnant persons should avoid
  • Should be less than 2 ppm in room
• Requires some other method of euthanasia to ensure death such as removal of vital organ, exsanguination, or open chest
• CO2
• In appropriate species
2. Conditionally Acceptable
• Penetrating captive bolt
• Gunshot
• Decapitation and pithing
• Stunning and decapitation
3. Unacceptable
• Freezing
